Best Janitor AI Alternatives in 2026: 6 Sites Compared

Janitor AI alternatives shown as chat apps on a phone and a laptop on a desk at night, 18+

The best Janitor AI alternatives depend on why you want to leave. OurDream adds images, video and voice calls on a paid plan. SpicyChat is the closest swap for a big character library. Kindroid and Nomi suit people who want a phone app with memory. SillyTavern is free software you run yourself. All are for adults 18+.

I built this list from each service's own pricing pages, terms, privacy policies, help centers and App Store listings, all read on November 1, 2026. Prices and limits change often, so check the live page before you pay.

How I picked them

I matched each common reason for leaving Janitor AI to a service that publishes how it handles that need. I did not create accounts or chat with any of them, so nothing here is a hands-on test. I left out sites whose content rules I could not find or that looked loose about minors. Our how we review page explains the method.

Why people look for sites like Janitor AI

  • Images or voice. The janitor+ page lists more context, faster replies and more models, but no image generation or voice calls.
  • Outages and queues. Its help center has articles for 502, rate limit and Cloudflare errors, and janitor+ sells three times faster replies when the site is busy.
  • An app. Janitor now has free iOS and Android apps in beta, with adult content off by default to meet app store rules.
  • Privacy. Connect an outside model with an API key and your chats go to that provider too.
  • Memory. Free context is about 9k, and its help center says chats lost in server migrations cannot be restored.

The 6 best Janitor AI alternatives

1. OurDream: images, video and voice calls

Janitor AI is text chat. OurDream is built around pictures and voice. Its help center lists $19.99 a month with 1,000 dreamcoins up front and 1,000 a month after, or $119.88 a year with 2,000 up front and 1,000 a month after. Standard chat costs subscribers nothing per message, while images, video and voice calls cost coins.

Standard images cost 10 coins for two, an in-chat image costs 5, voice calls cost 50 coins a minute and standard video costs 100 coins per five seconds. So 1,000 coins covers about 200 standard images or 50 seconds of standard video.

The downsides are real:

  • Free accounts pay 1 coin per message, cannot make images or video, and cannot buy coins. The free starting balance is not published.
  • The Genius models cost 1 coin per response, even for subscribers.
  • Its home page FAQ claims end-to-end encryption, while its privacy policy describes encryption at rest and in transit, which is a different thing.
  • Nothing is refunded once more than 25% of a product is used, and crypto payments can't be refunded.
  • Its terms require individual arbitration unless you opt out within 30 days, and grant OurDream a perpetual, irrevocable license to your content.
  • Its home page mentions no phone app. It runs in a browser.

Pick something else if you only want text roleplay with community bots. SpicyChat, or Janitor AI itself, does that for less.

2. SpicyChat: the closest swap for community bots

SpicyChat works like Janitor AI, with bots that users create and label, and adult content between adult characters under its rules. From September 8, 2026, Get A Taste costs $5.95 a month or $60 a year, True Supporter $19.95 or $199.95, and I'm All In $29.95 or $299.95. Existing subscribers keep their old price.

True Supporter adds 8K context, semantic memory and images in conversations. I'm All In adds text to speech, up to 32K context and Priority Generation, which its docs say puts you at the front of the queue. That matters if Janitor AI's busy periods are why you are leaving.

Its guidelines require users to be 18+, require every bot to be an adult, and ban underage content, non-consent, incest, family roleplay and photorealistic explicit images.

The catch is the free tier, with 4,096 tokens of context, less than half of Janitor AI's roughly 9k. There is also no iOS app. Its docs say it left the App Store on August 27, 2025, and Android users install an APK from its site instead of Google Play.

3. CrushOn: published memory and dedicated capacity

CrushOn publishes more of its limits than most. Its pricing page lists a free plan with 100 message credits a month, 8K memory and shared chat capacity, with a note that responses may be slower at peak times. Free chat history is deleted after 7 days of inactivity.

Paid monthly plans run from $5.99 for Standard and $14.99 for Premium up to $39.99, $89.99 and $199.99 for Luxe, Elite and Imperial. Paid plans get dedicated chat capacity with basic priority, 16K memory through Luxe and 24K on Elite and Imperial. Voice messages appear in its plan list.

Its community guidelines require users to be 18+, ban minors, characters of unclear age and aged-up characters, ban realistic images of real people, and say content is moderated by people and automated tools.

The free plan is the weak spot. 100 credits a month is far from Janitor AI's unlimited free chats.

4. Kindroid: plain privacy wording and a real app

Kindroid is a companion app with an iPhone listing rated 18+. It shows $15.99 a month, $42.99 for three months or $159.99 a year, plus Ultra at $28.99 and MAX at $68.99, and lists voice calls, video calls, selfies and long-term memory.

Its legal page is unusually direct. It says data is encrypted at rest and in transit, says outright that Kindroid is not end-to-end encrypted, and says it will not sell or share your personal data. Account deletion takes effect 24 hours after you ask.

Its age verification page says it may rely on a payment method on file or behavioral estimation, or ask for a Yoti selfie check that passes at an estimated age of 21, or an ID scan.

The downsides are cost and friction. It costs more than janitor+, fees are not refunded, and the age check may ask for a selfie or ID.

5. Nomi: memory first, in a phone app

Nomi pitches memory above everything else. Its home page describes short, medium and long term memory, voice calls and selfies, and says you can start free without a credit card. It also says all chats are anonymized and no chat data is shared with third-party sites.

Its App Store listing, rated 18+, shows Standard at $15.99 a month, $39.99 a quarter or $99.99 a year, with extra credits from $4.99.

Its terms of service, effective January 16, 2026, bar anyone under 18, make payments nonrefundable and send disputes to individual arbitration. The clearest statement about characters sits in its help wiki, which says all Nomis are adults and at least 18.

That is thinner content guidance than SpicyChat or CrushOn publish, and memory size is not published.

6. SillyTavern: free software you run yourself

SillyTavern is different. Its documentation calls it a locally installed interface for power users, free and open source under the AGPL-3.0 license, with no AI model of its own. You connect a backend such as an OpenAI-compatible API, KoboldAI, Tabby or AI Horde, and it can link image generation and text to speech engines.

Its docs give install guides for Windows, Linux, Mac, Android through Termux, and Docker, and say it runs on anything that can run NodeJS 20 or higher.

Setup is on you, so it suits technical users. Your messages still go to whichever backend you connect, under that provider's terms and content rules, so running the interface locally does not make a hosted model private.

Is there a free Janitor AI alternative?

Janitor AI itself is still free. Its janitor+ page says "Free stays free," and its help center promises to keep a free option with unlimited chats and about 9k of context. The alternatives vary:

  • SpicyChat has a free tier with 4,096 tokens of context.
  • CrushOn gives 100 message credits a month.
  • Nomi says you can start free with no credit card. Its free limits are not published on the pages I read.
  • OurDream charges free users 1 coin per message and keeps images and video for subscribers.
  • SillyTavern costs nothing, but the backend you connect may charge.

Is Janitor AI safe?

Janitor AI's own terms, privacy policy and community guidelines, read on November 1, 2026, answer most safety questions.

Age and adult content

Its terms, last updated October 8, 2026, limit the service to people 18 and over. Its community guidelines permit adult content between consenting adult characters and require every character to be over 18 both physically and mentally. Users under 18 are permanently banned. The guidelines also ban incest, age regression and other extreme themes, and bar nudity or sexual imagery in character pictures. In Australia, Brazil and the UK, its help center says users pass a one-time age check through k-ID, and Janitor only receives a yes or no result.

What happens to your chats

Its privacy policy, last updated September 17, 2026, says it collects your email, username, chat conversations and messages, device details, approximate location from your IP address, and cookies. It uses data partly for research and development to improve its AI systems, shares it with service providers such as hosting and payment companies, and says it does not sell personal data. Data is processed in the United States and sent over HTTPS, though the policy says no system is completely secure.

Its terms give Janitor a worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to your content for running and improving the platform. Disputes go to binding arbitration with a class action waiver, and fees are generally non-refundable. To delete your account, the privacy policy points to Settings, then Security, then Delete Account. Deletion becomes permanent after a grace period, and some records such as your email may remain.

Using your own API key

Janitor AI lets you connect an outside model by pasting an API key into its settings, and its terms allow setting a proxy this way. Its help center describes a proxy as the middleman between your chat and the model provider. In practice, your messages are sent to that provider.

Janitor's own documents stop there. Its privacy policy says it does not cover third-party services, and its terms say you use them at your own risk under their terms. One of its help articles even tells users to switch on a model training setting at OpenRouter to fix an error. Read the provider's privacy policy first, because that is the policy that now governs your chats.

So is Janitor AI safe? For an adult who reads the rules, it is a clearly run platform with a strict line on minors. The weak points are a broad content license, research use of chats, and outside providers you add yourself. Our guide on whether AI companion apps are safe covers the wider risks.

How to choose and switch

  1. Name the reason you are leaving. Images and voice point to OurDream, queues to SpicyChat's top tier or CrushOn's paid capacity, an app to Kindroid or Nomi, and control to SillyTavern.
  2. Check free limits and refunds. Several free limits are not published, and Janitor AI, Kindroid, Nomi and OurDream all limit refunds, so start on a monthly plan.
  3. Close what you leave. Delete your Janitor AI account from its settings if you are done, and revoke any API key you added on the provider's own site.

Verdict: the best Janitor AI alternative for you

There is no single best Janitor AI alternative, because people leave for different reasons. If you want images, video and voice calls, OurDream is the strongest fit at $19.99 a month or $119.88 a year, but every image, video and call is paid for with coins and refunds are limited. If you want the same community bot experience with a priority queue, SpicyChat's I'm All In tier at $29.95 is the closest swap, though its free context is smaller and it has no iOS app. CrushOn publishes its memory sizes and gives paid users dedicated capacity. Kindroid has the plainest privacy wording and a real phone app. Nomi puts memory first. SillyTavern is free if you can run it yourself and connect a backend. If cost matters most, Janitor AI's own free plan is still hard to beat, so stay unless one of these gaps bothers you. Every option here is for adults 18+.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best Janitor AI alternatives?

It depends on why you are leaving. OurDream suits people who want images, video and voice calls, paid with coins. SpicyChat is the closest match for community bots and offers a priority queue on its top tier. CrushOn publishes its memory sizes. Kindroid and Nomi are phone apps focused on companions and memory. SillyTavern is free software you run yourself.

What sites are like Janitor AI?

SpicyChat and CrushOn are the most similar websites like Janitor AI, since both host characters made by users and publish rules for adult content. SpicyChat offers more context on its paid tiers and a priority queue on the top one, while CrushOn lists 8K free memory and up to 24K paid. Both require users to be 18 or older and ban characters who are minors.

Is Janitor AI safe?

Janitor AI is limited to adults 18+, bans minors permanently and requires every character to be an adult. Its privacy policy says it collects chat messages, uses data to improve its AI systems and does not sell personal data. The main risks are a broad license over your content and outside model providers, whose own policies apply once you connect an API key.

Is there a free Janitor AI alternative?

Yes, though the free limits vary. SpicyChat has a free tier with 4,096 tokens of context, CrushOn gives 100 message credits a month, and Nomi says you can start free. SillyTavern is free open source software, but the model you connect may cost money. Janitor AI itself stays free, with unlimited chats and about 9k of context.

Does Janitor AI have an app?

Yes. Its help center says official iOS and Android apps are free and still in beta. The App Store lists it as Janitor: Interactive Stories, rated 18+, with janitor+ at $12.99 a month or $99 a year as in-app purchases. Adult content is off by default in the apps to meet app store rules.

What happens to my chats if I use an API key on Janitor AI?

Your messages are sent to the outside model provider you connect. Janitor AI's help center calls the proxy a middleman between your chat and that provider. Its privacy policy says it does not cover third-party services, and its terms say you use them at your own risk, so the provider's own privacy policy decides what happens to your chats next.
