OurDream vs Candy AI comes down to how you pay for pictures. Candy has the cheaper yearly plan, a 24-hour refund window and no arbitration clause. OurDream gives 1,000 coins a month and publishes what each image and video costs, but it uses arbitration and generally keeps unused time. Both can train their AI on your chats.
Both are adult sites for people 18 and over. This comparison puts their published prices, free limits, refund rules, dispute terms and privacy policies side by side, then says who should pick which. For the full detail on each, read our OurDream AI review and our Candy AI review.

How I compared them
I did not create an account on either site, so nothing here describes using them. I read each company's own pages on November 1, 2026, re-checked every number from our two reviews against them, and applied the checks on our how we review page. Where a company does not publish something, I say so rather than borrow a figure from another review site.
Which is cheaper, OurDream or Candy AI?
On a yearly plan, Candy, by a wide margin. On a monthly plan, it is close. Here is what each pricing page showed:
- OurDream monthly costs $19.99 a month, which is $239.88 over a year.
- OurDream yearly costs $119.88 paid upfront, shown as $9.99 a month. The first yearly subscription adds 1,000 bonus dreamcoins.
- Candy monthly costs £9.99 for the first month, then £13.99 a month, which is £163.88 over a year.
- Candy quarterly costs £26.97, shown as £8.99 a month.
- Candy yearly costs £47.88 paid upfront, shown as £3.99 a month.
The currencies differ, so here is a simple test. Candy's yearly plan would only cost as much as OurDream's if a pound bought more than $2.50, so Candy wins the yearly comparison easily. The two monthly plans meet at about $1.43 to the pound, which makes them close, and your own currency and taxes decide which comes out cheaper. Candy's page warns that local taxes may apply, so expect your own currency at checkout.
Candy's plans renew automatically, and its checkout also offered weekly billing at £5.60 and fortnightly billing at £9.79. Premium Plus, Candy's higher tier with 330 tokens a month, had no price on the subscription page I loaded.
Free tier: Candy caps messages, OurDream charges coins
Candy's help center says free users can send up to 5 messages across all characters, create one custom character and generate one image. Its terms say a free user may "generally send a maximum of 5 messages". That is a short preview, but you know the limit before you sign up.
OurDream lets you sign up for free. Its help center says free users pay 1 dreamcoin per message, need a subscription to generate images and videos, and cannot buy coins without one. It does not say how many coins a new free account starts with, so the number of free messages is not published, and you see your balance only after you join. If a long free start matters most, neither is a strong pick, and our guide to free AI girlfriend apps covers apps with bigger free tiers. For more on this side, see our guide to OurDream AI free limits.
Images, video and voice: tokens or dreamcoins?
This is where the two differ most, and it is the strongest case for OurDream.
Candy's plan buys unlimited messages and 100 tokens a month. Its help center says tokens pay for image generation, video generation, creating a custom character, listening to voice messages, voice calls in beta and private content packs. Its home page says you can top up anytime, and warns that a more detailed companion uses more tokens. Candy's terms say subscription tokens expire at the end of each billing period, though an older help center article says cancelling does not delete them.
OurDream's plan includes unlimited messages on its standard chat models, access to image and video generation and 1,000 dreamcoins a month. Its FAQ says the included coins cover "all your needs including videos". Its help center's coin guide, last edited March 2, 2026, prices each action:
- Standard images cost 10 coins for 2 images, and an image inside a chat costs 5 coins.
- Standard video costs 100 coins per 5 seconds, up to 60 seconds for 1,200 coins. Ultra quality video costs 200 coins.
- Voice calls cost 50 coins a minute, and premium narration voices cost 5 coins per paragraph.
- The Genius and Lively Genius chat models cost 1 coin per response.
Extra coins need an active subscription, and coin pack prices are not on its public pages. The help center contradicts itself on whether unused coins expire, with one article saying they last until the billing period ends and another saying they do not expire.
Both companies meter pictures and video, so neither plan includes them free of charge. The difference is what you can check before you pay. OurDream's 1,000 monthly coins cover about 200 standard images, or 50 seconds of standard video, or 20 minutes of voice calls. Candy gives 100 tokens a month, and the pages I read did not say how many tokens an image, a video or a voice note costs, so the two allowances cannot be compared item for item. OurDream's claim that the coins cover all your needs holds for light use, since one 60-second video costs more than a month's coins. If you plan to make a lot of images, OurDream's bigger, published allowance is the safer bet on paper.
Which has the better refund policy?
Candy's terms and help center set out a narrow but real refund route:
- Ask within 24 hours of paying, by emailing support@candymail.ai. Cancelling in Settings does not count as a request.
- The refund is refused once you have used more than 20 tokens, however soon you ask.
- Only card payments qualify, and technical problems on your side do not.
- EU and UK users can withdraw within 14 days, minus a share for what they used.
OurDream's refund policy, last modified March 9, 2026, works differently:
- Unused parts of a billing period are generally non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise.
- A defect, or a service significantly different from its description, can be reported within 14 days, and OurDream decides case by case.
- EEA, UK and Swiss users have a 14-day withdrawal right that may be lost once they start using the service.
- Crypto payments are final, and a chargeback filed without contacting support first may get the account suspended.
Candy wins here, with one catch. Its 24-hour window can close before you have built a single character. With OurDream, the safer move is to start monthly, since a yearly plan you quit early is money you are unlikely to see again.
Disputes: arbitration or the courts of Malta
Candy's terms, revised on September 22, 2026, put disputes under Maltese law and the courts of Malta. They contain no arbitration clause and no class action waiver.
OurDream's terms, last modified August 26, 2026, open with a notice that they contain an arbitration clause and a class action waiver. Disputes go to binding individual arbitration under JAMS rules, and small claims court is still allowed. You can opt out within 30 days of first accepting the terms, by post to its Delaware address or by email. If dispute rights matter to you, Candy is the friendlier of the two, and OurDream users who care should send the opt-out early.

Is OurDream or Candy AI more private?
Neither is private in the strict sense, since both say outside AI providers process your messages. They differ in how they describe their protection:
- Candy's home page says data in transit is encrypted with TLS 1.2 or higher, and it makes no end-to-end claim.
- OurDream's home page says chats are protected by end-to-end encryption and that no one can read them, "not even us". Its privacy policy describes AES encryption at rest and TLS 1.3 in transit, which is solid protection but not end-to-end.
- OurDream's safety center says automated classifiers process all content, including private chats, and that the model provider processes each message you send. Staff see private chats only with your consent or under a lawful request.
- Candy's privacy notice says third-party AI providers "may receive the content of your messages".
- Candy keeps account data for up to three years after your last activity unless you ask for deletion. OurDream may keep a popular public character running even after you delete your account.
On paper, OurDream describes more protection, since Candy's home page mentions only data in transit. Candy wins on candour, because its claim matches what a companion app can actually deliver. OurDream says it does not sell your data, and Candy says it will not sell your personal data without your consent.
Do OurDream and Candy AI train AI on your chats?
Yes, both. Candy's privacy notice, revised October 19, 2026, says chats, prompts and replies can be de-identified and used to train its AI models and moderation tools, including human review of de-identified chats. OurDream's privacy policy, last modified August 26, 2026, lists training its artificial intelligence and machine learning models among the uses of your information. Both sets of terms also give the company a perpetual licence to what you submit.
If keeping your chats out of AI training is the point, neither suits you. Keep real names, addresses and photos of real people out of either one, and see our guide to whether AI companion apps are safe for the wider risks.
Verdict: OurDream AI or Candy AI, who should pick which
Pick Candy AI if price, refunds or dispute rights decide it for you. Its yearly plan at £47.88 costs far less than OurDream's $119.88, it offers a 24-hour refund window, and its terms send disputes to the courts of Malta with no arbitration clause. It also publishes a clear free message cap and makes no encryption claim it cannot keep. Pick OurDream AI if you make a lot of images or video and want to know the cost first. Its plan includes 1,000 dreamcoins a month and its help center prices every action, about 200 standard images a month, while Candy gives 100 tokens and does not publish what each image, video or voice note costs. Weigh three things against OurDream. We earn a commission from it, its own privacy policy contradicts its end-to-end encryption claim, and unused time is generally not refunded, so start on the monthly plan. Skip both if you want your chats kept out of AI training.

Frequently asked questions
Is OurDream better than Candy AI?
It depends on what you will use. OurDream suits heavy image users, because its 1,000 dreamcoins a month come with published costs per image and video. Candy wins on a cheaper yearly plan, a 24-hour refund window and no arbitration clause, and it publishes a free message cap. We earn a commission from OurDream, so weigh this answer with that in mind.
Which is cheaper, OurDream or Candy AI?
Candy, on a yearly plan. Its subscription page showed me £47.88 a year, or £3.99 a month, against OurDream's $119.88. The monthly plans are close, at $19.99 for OurDream and £13.99 for Candy after a £9.99 first month. I checked Candy from the UK, so it showed pounds, and its page warns that local taxes may apply.
Is OurDream AI or Candy AI free?
Both let you sign up for free. Candy's help center says free users get 5 messages across all characters, one custom character and one image. OurDream's help center says free chat costs 1 dreamcoin per message and images and video need a subscription, but it does not publish how many coins a free account starts with.
Do OurDream and Candy AI charge extra for images and video?
Both meter them. Candy pays for images, video, voice messages and voice calls with tokens, 100 a month on its standard plan, and sells top-ups, but does not publish per-item costs. OurDream draws on 1,000 dreamcoins a month, and its help center lists 10 coins for 2 images, 100 coins per 5 seconds of video and 50 coins a minute for calls.
Which has the better refund policy, Candy AI or OurDream?
Candy. Its terms allow a refund if you email support within 24 hours of paying and have used 20 tokens or fewer, on card payments only. OurDream's refund policy says unused time is generally non-refundable, with defects reviewed case by case if reported within 14 days. EU and UK users get a 14-day withdrawal right on both, with conditions.
Is OurDream or Candy AI more private?
Neither is private in the strict sense. Both let outside AI providers process your messages, and both can use chats to train their AI. Candy claims only TLS encryption in transit. OurDream's home page claims end-to-end encryption, but its privacy policy describes encryption at rest and in transit, and that standard protection falls short of end-to-end.
Do OurDream and Candy AI use arbitration?
Only OurDream. Its terms require binding individual arbitration and waive class actions, though you can opt out within 30 days of first accepting them. Candy's terms send disputes to the courts of Malta under Maltese law, and they contain no arbitration clause or class action waiver, which leaves you free to go to court.
